Job Description

Job Summary
Under general supervision, the Eastside Pediatric Dental Hygienist will provide dental hygiene, patient education and appropriate referrals as needed and dental care coordination for the care and treatment of patients in an integrated clinic of medical, behavioral health and dental services. The population being served will include children of all ages (with particular attention to youth in foster care) and pregnant women. The position is in partnership with the Colorado Medical-Dental Integration (CO MDI) Project and the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment. The position involves the clinic team and the hygienist assuming responsibility for the goals of the CO MDI project including monitoring progress and implementing changes that will help meet the project’s objectives. The position will involve some administrative responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Graduation from a school of Dental Hygiene accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation

Experience: Typically one year of experience as a Dental Hygienist in a dental office setting preferred. Previous experience with pediatric and underserved population preferred. Hands-on experience with electronic dental records, Word and Excel. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of dental hygiene procedures and techniques sufficient to be able to perform the full scope of preventive dental hygiene services, including oral health screenings, education, fluoride treatment, sealants, prophies, scaling and root planing, and dental referrals. Ability to function as part of a multi-discipline healthcare team yet with autonomy as the sole dental provider. Performs case management by following up on treatment plans, providing documentation in the health record and collaboration with clinical team as it relates to dental/medical integration. Ability to demonstrate empathy with potential cultural and diversity dynamics. Ability to discern information from others in a variety of formats and communicate information to others in a manner that ensures complete communication.

Certificate/License/Registration: Valid Colorado license to practice as a Dental Hygienist. Current Basic Life Support for Health Care Provider Certification/CPR. All Certifications and Licenses required for this job must be kept current as a condition of continued employment.
