Job Description

Under the general supervision of the Clinic Manager, Specialty Clinics, provides periodontal and dental hygiene services, to include expanded functions as licensed in the State of California and by participating in Special Care programs and community relation activities.

Essential Functions
Knowledge of:
1. Principles and practices of periodontal and preventive dentistry.
2. Basic educational principles.

Ability to:
1. Provide a variety of clinical services to include local anesthesia, root planning and all other services allowable under California State law.
2. Communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff and patients.
3. Apply patient management and time management skills.
4. Project a professional image.
5. Work in fast paced environment and maintain professional composure and demeanor.
6. Manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously

Experience:
1. Minimum of two years’ dental hygienist experience.
2. Experience working/communicating to people with disabilities and their caregivers/family.

Education:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Bachelors or associate degree from an accredited dental hygiene program.
3. Registered Dental Hygienist licensure from the California State Board of Dental Examiners.
4. Current California Certification in Radiation Safety and Anesthesia Certification.
